Scorecard
The Scorecard is a weekly pulse check on your business. It tracks measurable numbers -- the vital signs of your company -- so you can spot trends before they become problems.
INFO
For the EOS theory behind the Scorecard, see EOS Methodology: Scorecard.
Overview
The Scorecard displays a grid with:
- Rows -- Each row is a measurable (e.g., "Weekly Revenue", "Customer Support Tickets", "New Leads").
- Columns -- The last 13 weeks, providing a trailing view.
- Goals -- Each measurable has a weekly goal that determines whether it is on or off track.
- Owner -- The person responsible for hitting the number.
Adding a Measurable
To add a new measurable:
- Navigate to Scorecard in the sidebar.
- Click Add Measurable.
- Fill in the form:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Title | Name of the measurable (e.g., "Weekly Revenue") |
| Owner | Team member responsible for this number |
| Goal | Target value with a direction operator |
| Unit | Optional unit label (e.g., "$", "%", "tickets") |
Goal Format
Goals use a direction operator to indicate whether higher or lower is better:
| Format | Meaning | Example |
|---|---|---|
>100 | Greater than 100 is on track | Revenue > $100k |
<5 | Less than 5 is on track | Support tickets < 5 |
=10 | Exactly 10 is on track | Meetings held = 10 |
>=95 | Greater than or equal to 95 | Uptime >= 95% |
<=3 | Less than or equal to 3 | Defects <= 3 |
TIP
Most scorecard measurables use > (more is better) or < (less is better). Exact equals is rare but useful for compliance-type metrics.
Entering Weekly Values
Each week, measurable owners enter their numbers:
- Find the current week's column (highlighted).
- Click on the cell for your measurable.
- Enter the value and press Enter or Tab.
Values that meet the goal are displayed in green. Values that miss the goal are displayed in red. This color coding makes it easy to scan the entire Scorecard and see where the team stands.
WARNING
Measurables with missing values for the current week are flagged during the Scorecard Review segment of the L10 Meeting. Enter values before the meeting to keep reviews efficient.
13-Week Trailing View
The Scorecard always shows the most recent 13 weeks. This trailing window serves two purposes:
- Trend analysis -- You can see whether a metric is improving, declining, or flat over the last quarter.
- Pattern detection -- Cyclical patterns (e.g., end-of-month spikes) become visible.
Scroll horizontally if all 13 columns do not fit on your screen.
Editing a Measurable
To edit an existing measurable:
- Click the measurable name or the edit icon.
- Update the title, owner, goal, or unit.
- Save the changes.
INFO
Only OWNER and ADMIN roles can add, edit, or remove measurables. MEMBER users can enter values but cannot modify the measurable definitions.
Deleting a Measurable
To remove a measurable from the Scorecard:
- Click the edit icon on the measurable row.
- Click Delete.
- Confirm the deletion.
WARNING
Deleting a measurable removes all historical values. This action cannot be undone. If a measurable is no longer relevant, consider keeping it for historical reference.
Dropping to Issues
If a measurable is consistently off track, it likely needs deeper discussion. During the L10 Meeting Scorecard Review, you can drop a measurable directly to the Issues list with a single click. This creates an issue that will be addressed during the IDS segment.
Best Practices
- 5 to 15 measurables -- Keep the Scorecard focused. Too many numbers dilute attention.
- Leading indicators -- Include metrics that predict future outcomes, not just lagging results. See EOS Methodology: Scorecard for guidance.
- Update before the meeting -- All values should be entered before the weekly L10 Meeting.
- Review trends, not just this week -- A single red number is not a crisis. Three or more red weeks in a row is a pattern worth discussing.
